Barney Alfred Deal, 81, departed this life June 5, 2014, he died peacefully at home. He was born June 10, 1932 to Bertie Mae and James Pearson Deal of Statesboro, Georgia. Barney was a humble, caring and loving man. God came first in his life and he served as Deacon at Prattville Primitive Baptist Church. He also loved visiting his home church, Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church, Statesboro, GA, where he and Betty joined after they were married and living in Savannah, GA. He was employed by Union Camp for 15 years in Savannah then transferred to Prattville, AL in 1967 and retired in 1993 after 42 years of service. He bought a farm in 1980 that was his hobby after work; planting and growing vegetables. He loved his cows, tractors and enjoyed taking his grandchildren to the farm and teaching them the farm life, "picking up potatoes after being dug", teaching them to drive and playing with the cows. Barney loved his family so much and they adored him. Mr. Deal and his wife got to travel before he came down with Parkinson's disease and dementia in 2005, she was his caregiver. Visitation for Mr. Deal will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. till 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Prattville Memorial with the funeral service immediately following with Elder Jerry Abernathy, Brother Steve Patrick and Elder Michael McGrady officiating. Mr. Deal was preceded in death by his son, Barney "Kim" Deal; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Marie Ross Deal and Joni Leslie Deal; his parents, James Pearson and Bertie Mae Lee Deal; brother, Lannie Deal; sister and brother-in-law, Priscilla and William Hinely; father and mother-in-law, Clayton and Nannie Sue Morris. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Morris Deal; three sons, Carey Deal, Mike (Tammy) Deal and Josh (Anetra) Deal; one grandson, Dustin Deal, all of Prattville, AL; two granddaughters, Dominique (Ben) Greer of El Mirage, AZ. And Autumn (Joey) Montana of Peorcia, AZ; six great-grandchildren, Benji, Breaden and Brycen Greer, Jo Jo and MaKenna Montana and Lauren Dober; two brothers, James Foy (Glenna) Deal of Columbus, GA and Julian P. (Ann) Deal of Pembroke, GA; three brothers-in-law, John D. (Karen) Morris and Bobby Clayton (Juanita) Morris both of Statesboro, GA. and Urquit (Carolyn) Morris of Charleston, SC; one sister-in-law, Mary Morris Gillis; several nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Pallbearers will be nephews, Clay Morris, Steve Hinely, Josh Deal, Mike Slatton, Jeff Slatton and Allen Deal. Honorary Pallbearers will be Union Camp and International Paper employees. The family would like to thank Baptist Hospice, Tracey Dailey Wright, Lori Breeding Apparcel, Brenda Smith, Bea Burcham, Tracy Peyton, Pam Weaver, Paige Butler and Carolyn Bryson.
