Mauricette Marie Labat Sims, 92, passed away Thursday morning at her home in Birmingham after a brief illness. Born in Bordeaux, France, Mauricette served as a nurse during World War II. In 1946 she married then Major Clayton C. Sims of Montgomery, AL and traveled the world before settling in Montgomery in 1963. Colonel Sims passed away in 1994 and Mauricette moved to Brookdale Place in Birmingham in 2003. She is survived by Nina, Dave and Richard Clayton Seaman of Birmingham, Stephanie Marie Ihlenfeld of Austin TX, Kimberly Raadt Higgins of Canton GA, Linda Langford Knobel of Louisville KY, David Clayton Ring of Millbrook, and Jean-Michel Pontneau of Peyrehorade, France. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 10:00 am at Our Lady Queen of Mercy Catholic Church in Montgomery with a private burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
