Mr. William Theris Wilbanks


Funeral service for Mr. William Theris Wilbanks, 89, formerly of Alexander City, will be Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Dr. Joe Turner will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. Honors will be provided by the Alexander City Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.

Mr. Wilbanks passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Crown Health Care of Montgomery. He was born on December 8, 1924 in Elmore County, Alabama to William Calvin Wilbanks and Effie Lee Lett Wilbanks. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Alexander City. He owned and operated Wilbanks Tire Service in Alexander City for forty years. He also served in the Navy during WWII. Mr. Wilbanks was a member of the Elks Lodge and served all the elected offices in the Kiwanis Club. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and was always there to help them. He enjoyed making fig preserves for his family and friends.

He is survived by his two sons, A. Frank Wilbanks of Wilsonville and T. Michael Wilbanks (Bobbie Nell), of Alexander City; grandchildren, Kathryn (Joey) Fuller, Robbin Wilbanks, Wesley (Kelli) Wilbanks, Neil Wilbanks; great-grandchildren, Madison Fuller and Connor Fuller; brothers, Lenward Collins Wilbanks of Tallassee, Charles Wayne Wilbanks (Sue) of Montgomery, Daniel Pinckney Wilbanks of Tallassee, Thomas Newton Wilbanks (Judy) of Montgomery; sisters, Clara Antoinette Ledbetter of Kenner, LA, Ramona Yvonne Shelley (Paul), of Eufaula and special friend Carol Wilbanks of Alexander City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mavis Ruth Moncrief Wilbanks; parents; brothers James Calvin Wilbanks, Robert Frank Wilbanks and sister, Elizabeth Wilbanks Leonard Coker.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of Crown Healthcare in Montgomery and the nurses of Southern Care Hospice of Montgomery for the excellent care they provided Mr. Wilbanks.
