DICKENS, James Allen Sr., 81, a resident of Montgomery, AL died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 17, 2013, at 12:30pm from Alabama Heritage Chapel with Minister Buddy Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11am to 12:30pm Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Dickens was preceded in death by his mother Rosalie Anderson, his father James Fischer Dickens and his brother Charles Dickens. He is survived by his son, James A. Dickens, Jr. (Kristi); his daughter, Leslie Dickens (Lori); his sisters, Jacqueline Parquette (Frank), Betty Goolsby (Rick), Georgia Maddox (Larry); his brother, Bobby Dickens (Denise); his grandson, James A. Dickens III; his granddaughter, London Dickens; his niece, Jenny Johnson (Stephen) and his nephew, Buzz Parquette (Robin). A host of friends and loved ones also survive him. He was a member of Landmark Church of Christ, a committed volunteer for Compassion 21, a Korean War veteran, an avid Roll Tide fan and loved to play golf. He loved his family, his home and his dogs Tucker and Chase. Pallbearers will be Bart Brown, Ronnie Humphrey, Bill Page, Dondi Williamson, Mike Talley, and Mark Loudermilk. Honorary pallbearers are his Life group at Landmark Church of Christ and his fellow volunteers at Compassion 21.
