Clarence Dorris Allen, "C.D., age 94, passed away at The Bill Nichols Veterans Home on Saturday, September 7, 2013. C.D attended Birmingham Southern College and the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He entered military service in 1940 with the 100th Bomb Squadron of the 42nd Bomb Group of the 13th Air Force, operation the South Pacific Theater of Operation, during World War II.

After the war, he was employed with American Cast Iron Pipe Company of Birmingham, where he worked 43 years in the Sales Engineering Department. C.D. loved life, God, family, and playing with all of the grandchildren. He enjoyed being a member of the Sowers Sunday School Class at Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church. His favorite part was being on the social and entertainment committee.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Perkins Allen, of 66 years of marriage and his four children: Jimmy (Juanice) of Port Arthur, Texas, Charlotte Crawford of Montgomery, Ben (Rita) of Lake Jordan, and Jeff (Belinda) of Atlanta, Georgia. He has seven grandchildren, Jason Allen (Carrie) of Kingwood, Texas, Kelley Romanowski (Scott) of Birmingham, AL, Hollis Marshall (Will) of Auburn, AL, Terry Allen (Crystal), Wilmington, North Carolina, Justin and Jessica Allen, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Clayton Allen of Lake Jordan, AL. He also has 2 step-granddaughters, Tina Stanley (Jim) of Dallas, Texas, Marie Ginn of Gulf Shores, AL. and 2 step grandsons, Witt and Parker Maupin of Atlanta, GA. He was also blessed to have 8 Great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home, with a service of Celebration of Life immediately following at 11:00 AM. Condolences may be offered at Alabama Heritage Directing.
