Kathryn S. Haggar 64 of Fort Washington passed away peacefully this past Wednesday surrounded by her family and friends at the Keystone House in Wyndmoor. Born in West Chester, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Etha (Nee Swarner) Sharkey. Mrs. Haggar was preceded in death by her husband George R. "GR" in November 2001 and by her granddaughter Gabrielle. She was a Customer Service Representative, employed by the Acme Market in Ambler for 25 years. In the late 90's, Kathy found her passion when she began working for Local 1776, organizing labor and supporting member rights. Mrs. Haggar was a member of Local #1776 United Food Workers and Fort Washington Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Her energetic personality would brighten any room she entered; her joy and optimism were contagious as she touched the lives of many people over her 64 years. Yet without question her happiest moments were spending time with the stars in her life; her eight beautiful grandchildren. Her belly laugh and bright spirit will echo with us forever. Kathryn is the devoted mother of David G. (Sandra) Haggar of Fort Washington, Karen T. (Francis) Junod of Glenside, Keith R. (Diane) Haggar of Abington, Melissa L. (Thomas) Joyce of Fort Washington. She is the loving grandmother of Kerri, Christopher, Ashley, Kevin, Garrett, Aidan, Delaney and Shea. The sister of Earl Gillespie of Downingtown, Betty Gillespie of Ambler, Brian Sharkey of Ambler, James Sharkey of Roslyn. Services were held on Tuesday April 3, 2012 at Anton B. Urban Funeral Home, 1111 S. Bethlehem Pike, Ambler. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery, Ambler. A mass in her memory will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in her name to Keystone Care, 8765 Stenton Ave. Wyndmoor, PA 19038 would be appreciated by the family. Tributes may be made at www.UrbanFuneraHome.com
