Norma Priscilla Halligan wife of the late Richard Davis Halligan passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 2, 2012 at Harrisburg Hospital while on vacation. Daughter of the late Ida MacDonald and Dr. Russell S. Phillips, she was born on July 28, 1918 in Brookline, Massachusetts. Norma grew up in Newton Center Massachusetts and was a graduate of the Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School. She worked as the office manager in her father's dental practice until her marriage and then became a homemaker and mother of two daughters. Norma loved her family, her home and her animals. She and Richard rescued many dogs and cats, including her beloved dog, Tess and cat, Luna. She enjoyed flower gardening, bird watching, and entering contests. She was a volunteer for the Montgomery County SPCA and was a former member of the Whitpain Historical Society and the Covered Bridge Society. She attended services and many functions at Cold Point Baptist Church and was loved dearly by her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Andrea Scott Ottey and her son-in-law, Gary, of Plymouth Meeting,PA; her daughter, Sharon Lynn Prior, and son-in-law, Jim, of Telford, PA; sister, Elizabeth Roberts, of Port St Lucie, Florida; brother, Russell S. Phillips Jr. and sister-in-law, Helen, of Walpole, Mass, grandchildren, Lindsay Ann Prior of Telford, PA, Megan Rebecca (Ottey) Morgan and her husband, Wesley, of Bethlehem, PA, Michael Gary Ottey and his wife, Jillian, of Bethlehem, PA and Christopher Philip Ottey of Reading, PA and three nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years and her granddaughter, Amy Ann Prior. A Celebration of Norma's life will be held on Saturday, May 12, at 11 a.m. at the Cold Point Baptist Church, 5063 Militia Hill Road, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462. Friends may pay their respects at a viewing from 9:30 to 11 a.m prior to the service. Burial will be private in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts. Dear Family of Norma Priscilla,
We are so very sorry to read of your earthly loss of your most beloved Norma. Pray GOD is strengthening and comforting each one through your deep heartache and sorrow. We especially want to remember Gary Ottey, his family and mother Virginia who is a friend of ours for many years.
