Richard Huff Obituary

Richard Huff Grantham, NH: Richard D. Huff, age 84, died at the Woodlawn Care Center, April 30, 2012. Richard was born May 7, 1927, in Sayre, PA, son of Francis A. and Mildred (Dillon) Huff. Raised in Milan, PA, he had a Tom Sawyer kind of life, living near the Susquehanna River helping his father with the boat rental business and getting in as much fishing that he could. He finished school and joined the Merchant Marines in 1944 at Sheepshead Bay, and saw many ports of call as a radio operator. When he returned he married Dorothea Mae Lenox in 1950 and shared 42 years together when she passed in 1992. He moved his family to Ambler, PA. and started work in the construction business as heavy equipment operator. He worked in the Philadelphia area as a Crane operator with the IUOE Local 542 where he helped to build Veterans Stadium and many other landmarks in the area. He Lived in Milan, PA for 33 years prior to moving to NH in 2009. Richard always had a good sense of humor, was a great storyteller and enjoyed the occasional prank. He enjoyed playing golf, card games, and socializing with the many friends he made. He is survived by his sons: Curtis Huff and family of Springfield NH, Richard Huff and family of Havertown PA, his daughter: Cynthia Huff and family. Richard was predeceased by his parents, his brother: Francis in WWII as an Army Air Corps B-17 Bomber Pilot, his beloved wife, Dorothea, and grandson, Matthew Tyler Huff. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 8th at 11:00 AM at Bradford County Memorial Park in Luthers Mills, PA. Reception to follow at VFW Sayre PA. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers please make donations in memory of Richard to the United Methodist Church, Main Street, Milan, PA 18831.
