Kershner, Lois Elaine* - Formerly Of Lederach And Schwenksville  
Lois Elaine Kershner, formerly of Lederach and Schwenksville Mrs. Lois Elaine Kershner (née Trumbore), formerly of Lederach and Schwenksville, PA, and Glassboro, Woodstown, and Lower Alloways Creek, NJ, and currently of Pittsford, VT, passed away peacefully on June 24th, 2015, at Rutland Regional Medical Center, VT, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Lois was born to parents Esther and Elmer Trumbore on December 14, 1941, in Sellersville, PA, and was raised in Lederach, PA, with her younger sister, Gail. Lois attended Souderton High School and worked briefly after high school for Harleysville Insurance. In 1960, she married Edson Theodore Kershner. Lois and Ted had two boys, Kyle Kershner and Randy Kershner. The Kershner family moved to Glassboro, NJ, in 1968. In addition to raising her sons, Lois continued her education at Kutztown University and completed her undergraduate degree and advanced degree (MS in Library Sciences) from Glassboro State College (Rowan University), from 1969–1972. She worked as a school librarian and media specialist at Oak Valley Elementary School in Deptford Township, NJ, for 27 years, before retiring in 1999. She also worked as an adjunct professor of English at Glassboro State College for a number of years. An accomplished keyboardist who loved to sit at the piano and play for hours on end, Lois also taught piano for many years and served as a church organist for nearly 50 years, including her final position as organist at Hancock’s Bridge United Methodist Church and Quinton Methodist Church, both in Salem County, NJ. Lois was an avid golfer whose game was highlighted by three holes-in-one and two years as ladies’ club champion at Pitman (NJ) Country Club. She also enjoyed skiing, biking, traveling and other adventures, including an unforgettable hang-gliding experience over the Austrian Alps. Lois and Ted were active members of Ron Jaworski’s Running Deer Golf Club in Pittsgrove, NJ, and the Jersey Skiters Ski Club prior to moving to Vermont in 2013. Lois is survived by her husband, Ted, of Pittsford, VT; sons Kyle Kershner of Pittsford, VT, and Randy Kershner of New Rochelle, NY; and sister, Gail (Trumbore) Tressler of Harleysville, PA. At the family’s request, no public services will be held. The family is grateful for all condolences and requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Michael J.
