Dorothy Conard

Dorothy M. Steigerwalt Conard, (nee Moritz) the daughter of Anna May and Edward R. Moritz, of Reading, Pennsylvania, passed away on November 10, 2012, at age 96. A graduate of ReadingHigh School, Dorothy met her husband Herman (Walt) Steigerwalt, a Lt. Commander in the Navy during WW II, in Washington. Herman died in 1967. Dorothy was dedicated to the preservation of historic places and succeeded in having several listed on the National Historic Registry. She also co-authored the book Whitpain ...Crossroads in Time. Dorothy and her second husband Henry S. Conard were active members of the Wissahickon Valley Historical Society. Henry died in 1991. A long time resident of Fort Washington Estates, Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth J. Borucki and Caroline W. Troha, a son, George R. Steigerwalt, a sister, Blanche Moritz Brady, a brother, Milton E. Moritz, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by a son, James A. Steigerwalt, in 1963. A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, November 17th at BoehmsChurch, 571 Penlyn-Blue Bell Pike, Blue Bell, PA.
