Evelyn I. Bishop

Evelyn I. Bishop, formerly of Franconia Twp., PA, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 5, 2012, in the Rockhill Mennonite Community, West Rockhill Twp., PA. She was 92. She was the wife of the late Wayne M. Bishop who died January 9, 1999. Born in Perkasie, PA, she was the daughter of the late Norman D. and Della Nora (Werst) Trauger. She was a 1938 graduate of Sell-Perk High School. She was employed as a spring finisher for AMETEK, INC., Hunter Spring Division, Lansdale, PA, for 25 years, retiring in 1965 to spend time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Bishop was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Perkasie, where she taught Sunday School in the Nursery Department and belonged to the Sewing Circle. She served as the Registrar for the Highland Park Campmeeting Association for many years, and she was a member of the Perkasie Historical Society as well as a local Parkinson's Support Group. Mrs. Bishop loved to sing, especially in the alto range, and she enjoyed quilting, doing counted cross stitch, and collecting antiques. She is survived by two daughters, Merle K. Landes and her husband Larry, of Harleysville, PA, and Sharon L. Coyle, of Quakertown, PA; a son, W. Dale Bishop and his wife Priscilla, of Perkasie; 9 grandchildren, Drew L. and E. Vaughn Landes, Collette Hendler, Gary, Timothy and Scott Bishop, and Brett, Jeffrey and Lance Coyle; 31 great grandchildren; a brother, the Rev. E. Earl Trauger and his wife Ruth, of Stevens, PA; and two sisters, F. Ruth Hunsberger, of Souderton, PA, and Marion Landis, of Perkasie. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Harry "Bo" Coyle, and two grandchildren, Della N. Landes and Bradley Coyle. Her Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 11, 2012, at 11:00 AM in the First United Methodist Church, 501 West Market Street, Perkasie, PA 18944, where family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in the South Perkasie Evangelical Cemetery, Perkasie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Highland Park Campmeeting Association, c/o Kelly Rapp, Treasurer, 13 Maron Road, Hatfield, PA 19440, or to the First United Methodist Church at the above-listed address.
