Henry Simpson SIMPSON, HENRY H., JR., 89, Huntingdon Valley, November 20, 2012, retired Tasty Baking Co., Public Relations Manager. Born in Chester, Pa and raised in Elkins Park, he was a graduate of Cheltenham High School, attended Phillips Academy, Andover, and received a journalism degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1949, where he was member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. An anti-aircraft artillery First Lieutenant in World War II
, he served as a transportation officer in Iran and Italy. He was a reporter
for the Philadelphia "Evening Bulletin" and later employed by The Budd Co. and Wyeth Laboratories. He became Tastykake's public relations manager in 1963 and retired in 1984. He was past commander of the former Louis N. Porter American Legion Post in Elkins Park and a three year board member of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross. He wrote eleven freelance articles for "Philadelphia Magazine" in the late nineteen seventies, and as a dedicated gardener, he maintained a 70 x 15 foot vegetable plot for thirty-six years. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, the former Patricia C. Hare, three sons, Henry, of Lexington, Virginia, David, of Pittsburgh, and Scott, of Cleveland, Ohio., and one daughter, Nancy Kool, of Akron, Ohio., and four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
