Joe Sherman

Joe Sherman Joe Sherman, beloved husband of Virginia Sherman, father of children Michael, Cynthia, Peter and Thomas and grandfather to eleven passed away Wednesday March 27, 2013. Joe was born on February 7, 1916 to eastern European immigrants Rose and Sussman Sherman. After a stint in the CCC's in the 1930's, Joe traveled cross country on his motorcycle to enroll at the College of Engineering at the University of Iowa where he became the first of his family to achieve a college degree. He met and married Virginia Moffit in 1943, celebrating 70 years of marriage just last November. Upon marriage, Joe immediately set out to serve in World War II as a lieutenant in the Air Force, serving in Europe until the duration of the War. Joe ultimately achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. The Sherman's settled in Hatboro 50 years ago. The family was one of the four founding families of the BuxMont Unitarian Church. Joe had great enthusiasm for life expressed by his interests in tools, car repair, alternative health and of course passionate discussions with friends and family. Throughout his life he showed his indomitable spirit in overcoming challenges, demonstrating courage and strength time and again, an example to all of us. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his interment service, Saturday, May25 at 11 A.M. in Hatboro Cemetery, 36 Fulmor Ave, Hatboro.
