Joseph Iobst Wilford of Springhouse, died February 23, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born in Williamsburg, VA on May 13, 1930. He attended Matthew Whaley School in Williamsburg and graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering. He then received his Master's Degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He was a licensed Engineer, employed by Philco-Ford and the U.S. Navy
Yard of Philadelphia. He served in the U.S. Air Force and Air Force Reserves for 30 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. His volunteer activities included service at the Wyncote Church Home. Joe is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jean Benson Wilford, and his four children and their spouses: Paul and Kathy Wilford of Bemardsville, NJ; Ruth and John Caccavale of Durham, NC; Mary and Richard Wilford-Hunt of Mt. Bethel, PA; and Carl and Janine Wilford of Corte Madera, CA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren who will remember him for his mischievous humor and kindness. Joe was a well-known stamp collector and exhibitor, and an active member of several philatelic societies. He was a tree farmer, conservationist and intrepid camper. He enjoyed traveling to World's Fairs with his family. Relatives and friends are invited to his memorial service Saturday at 11 AM at the Glenside United Church of Christ, 2160 Wharton Road, Glenside, PA 19038, where Joe was a member for over 50 years.
