Lillian McElhone Lillian Guerin McElhone passed away peacefully Thursday, November 17th, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 85. Lillian was born in Philadelphia , the sixth child of Thomas Edmundson Guerin, a textile designer, and Mary Reid Linton. Lillian worked for Bell Telephone of PA for several years, where she met her husband, Harry Walter McElhone. They married in 1947 and resided in Willow Grove, where they raised their three children. She spent many years as a secretary in Abington School District until retiring in 1988. Lillian's passion was music and musical theater. "Lil" performed in numerous local shows and seemed a natural for comedic characters, especially those that could sing and dance. Some favorite roles were Reno in "Anything Goes", Sue in "Bells are Ringing", and Sue Smith in "No No Nanette." Whether lead or chorus, she loved being part of a production and carried that energy with her every day. Her other passion was spending time with family and friends, which she did at every opportunity, and she never missed a chance to bring musical references into daily conversations. Local theater venues included Music Theater of Abington, Willow Manor Players, Abbey Stage Door and Huntington Valley Dinner Theater. Lillian was also a longtime member of Olney Concert Choir , St. Anne's Episcopal Church Choir (Abington), and County Choraliers (Hatboro). Lillian was the devoted mother of Harry Dale McElhone and wife Marge of Tuckahoe, NJ, Mary Reid McElhone and partner Nancy A. Kaiser of Rehoboth Beach, DE, and Jennifer Anne Phifer and husband Gerry of Ambler, PA. She was the adored grandmother of Beckie Licwinko, Dale Ian McElhone, Katie, Julia and Melanie Phifer, and great-grandmother of Aedan Licwinko. She is also survived by sister-in-law Betty Crowther and husband, Bill, along with numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lillian was predeceased by her husband, Harry, her brothers Thomas Guerin (Gelda) and Robert Guerin (Thelma and Helen), and sisters Edith Crager (Russell), Anne Munyan (Edward), and Susan Necoechea (Warren). A memorial service will be held 11am Monday, December 5th at St. Thomas' Church, 600 Church Road, Flourtown, PA 19031. Visitation beginning at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Garden Fund at Gwynedd Estates, 301 Norristown Rd, Ambler, PA 19002.
