Linford Snyder(1914 - 2014)

J. Linford Snyder, J. Linford Snyder, 99, of Hatfield, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn (Moyer) Snyder, who passed away November 13, 2010. Born November 5, 1914 in Hatfield, he was a son of the late Samuel and Amelia (Markley) Snyder. Mr. Snyder was employed as an agent with Nationwide Insurance for 70 years, retiring in 2011. Early in his career, he worked with Hatfield National Bank and Foley Advertising, Philadelphia. Lin was a lifelong member of Heidelberg UCC, Hatfield, where he served as an elder, historian, and choir director. He was also a Sunday School teacher and superintendent and served as a moderator with the UCC Penn Southeast Conference. Mr. Snyder was a member of the Hatfield Historical Society and a life member of the Hatfield Chamber of Commerce. At the age of 97, he received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Peirce College, his alma mater. Survivors include his children, D. Glenn Snyder and his wife, Shirley D., of Hatfield, John L. Snyder and his wife, Donna L., of Perkasie, Mary C. Palko and her husband, John, of Telford, and Janet E. Mackey of Hatfield; eight grandchildren, Cheri, Michael Glenn, Andrew, Carol, Karen, Jenna Lynn, Renee, and Michael John; and ten great-grandchildren, Carli, Brianna, Korine, Julia, Tyler, Douglas, Benjamin, Zachary, MacKenzie, and Jenna Marie. He was preceded in death by four siblings, S. Edna Stubbs, J. Walter Snyder, S. Earl Snyder, and A. Pearl Fryer. Relatives and friends may call between 9:00 and 10:45 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Heidelberg UCC, 1101 Cowpath Rd., Hatfield, PA 19440, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Little Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Telford. Arrangements are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heidelberg UCC, address above.
