Lynnelle D. Butler

Lynnelle D. Butler, 49, of Philadelphia, PA died on October 1, 2011 at Chestnut Hill Hospital. She was born in Philadelphia on December 8, 1961 to Phillip E. Tate, Sr. and Gladys (Wright) their third child and only daughter, whom warmed her fathers' heart the first time he held her. She was a graduate of Martin Luther King High School in Philadelphia and went on to attend Virginia State University. Lynnelle later married her high school sweetheart Earl Butler and gave birth to her two beautiful children whom she loved dearly. Before serving as a police officer, Lynnelle also worked as a Correctional Officer for the Philadelphia Prisons Dept. She then graduated from the Police Academy and took great pride in becoming a Philadelphia Police Officer where she proudly served in District 17 for 20 years. Lynnelle was so dedicated to the force that she never missed a day's work up until her illness. Lynnelle proudly wore the badge #2835 and served as the Captains Assistant until she retired. She loved to travel the world with her good friend Mimi Reese. She attended Oxford Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. Lynnelle leaves to celebrate her internal love with her parents, her daughter Nigelle E. Butler of Philadelphia, her 2 brothers Phillip E. Tate, Jr. of Lancaster County, Joshua E. Tate of Delaware County and her sister Sikeena Johnson of Philadelphia, her sister-in-laws Cindy, Victoria and Antoinette, her mother-in-law Shirley, her extended family the Harper's: Kenny, Helen, Nana, Andrea, Brian, and a host of many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She was pre-deceased by her daughter Sharlelle N. Butler, her brother Marvin C. Tate and her former husband Earl Butler. Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Service on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Oxford Presbyterian Church, 8501 Stenton Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19150. The Viewing will be from 8:00-10:00 AM at the Church. Interment will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park. Condolences may be made at www.ciavarellifuneralhomes.com.
