Ralph Leroy Amey

Ralph Leroy Amey, 89, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at Pickaway Manor, Circleville Ohio, where he had been living for three years. He was born April 11, 1922, in Ambler, Pa., the son of Herbert and Elsie Amey, who preceded him in death. Ralph was President of the graduating class of 1940, of Ambler High School. He also was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Annabelle; one sister and three brothers, including Edward Amey, who was mayor of Circleville Ohio in 1951-52. He is survived by two sons, David (Karen Lee) of Circleville and Herbert (JoAnn) of Durham, N.C. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Angie Amey of Circleville, Ted (Jill) Amey of Madison, Ala., and Emily Amey of New York, N.Y.; five great-grandchildren, Denzel, Reggie and Zoie Amey of Circleville and Emma Cate and Claire Amey of Madison, Ala.; two nieces, Barbara Scholtz of Cincinnati Ohio and Shirley Schaffner of Baltimore Ohio. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. According to his wishes, a burial service at Floral Hills Memory Gardens will be announced at a later date.
