Samuel H. Bader

Samuel H. Bader age 92, of Perkasie, PA, died Wednesday, February 15, 2012, in Genesis Pennsburg Manor, Pennsburg, PA. Born in Perkasie, he was the son of the late Samuel N. and Mary E. (Rosenberger) Bader. His wife, Jean E. (Kreidler) Bader, died July 7, 1975. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Mary Ellen Bader (infant) and Anna (Bader) Beck in 1966. Sam worked forty-nine years as a specialty glass cutter for the former J. M. Freed Glass Co., of Perkasie, retiring in 1985. He raised fruit and vegetables, which he sold door-to-door in the area and from his home from 1949 until 2006. A WWII Veteran, he served from March 1942 until January 1946 with the U. S. Fifth Army Air Forces in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines. Sam received three bronze stars, the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. Sam enjoyed hunting and fishing. He still went bass fishing with his son, Bob, and lifelong friend, Glen Haring, into his nineties. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Perkasie. He is survived by two sons, Richard and his wife Kay, of Mohrsville, PA, and Robert, of Perkasie; a brother, Jay Warren Bader and his wife Claudine, of Perkasie; a brother-in-law, Richard Kreidler and his wife Marlene, of Bethlehem, PA; eight nieces and three nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, Attn: Development Dept., 701 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123. Arrangements were by the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie.
