Sylvanus Rittenhouse Jr.

Sylvanus Rittenhouse Jr., 91, of Telford, passed away January 4, 2014 at Meadowood. He was the beloved husband of Gladys for over 68 years. Born in Telford he was the son of the late Sylvanus and Mayme Rittenhouse. Syl was a graduate of Souderton High School and attended Lansdale School of Business. He was a World War II Navy Veteran serving on PC821 sub-chaser. He was also very involved with Boy Scouts of America, becoming an Eagle Scout and serving as Scoutmaster, Explorer Advisor, Assistant District Commissioner and Merit Badge Counselor. He was a longtime member of Central Schwenkfelder Church where he served on many boards. Served on Board of Trustees and was Treasurer of Perkiomen Schools. Syl retired from Harleysville Insurance Company after 40 years of service working as a computer systems manager. He was a resident of Meadowood since 1994. In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters Joanne Thomas and husband Dean, Susan Davis and husband William Jr. and Carol Sheets and husband Roger; grandson Peter Davis and wife Caroline.
