William H. Kantner

William Kantner, III William H. Kantner, III, 82, of Willow Grove, formerly of Philadelphia and Perkasie, passed away July 6, 2012 at his residence. He and his beloved wife, Josephine (Hood) Kantner, observed their 54th wedding anniversary on June 28 of this year. Born August 3, 1929 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late William H. Kantner, II and Ruth (Minemier) Kantner. He graduated from Olney High School, Eckels College of Mortuary Science, and Temple University, and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Kantner began his career as a funeral director with the Oliver H. Bair Funeral Home of Philadelphia in 1953, leaving in the position of president in 1984. He then became the owner of Kantner Funeral Home in Perkasie until he retired in 2003. Mr. Kantner was an active member and past president of Church Council at Trinity Lutheran Church in Perkasie. He served as past president of the Perkasie Lions Club and the Pennridge Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Kantner was Emergency Coordinator of Perkasie for many years and served on the board of the Pennridge Senior Center. He was a member and Past Master of Philadelphia Potter Lodge #72, F. & A. M., and a member of Quakertown Lodge #512, F.& A. M. He was formerly a member of the Central Lions Club of Philadelphia and the Union League of Philadelphia. Mr. Kantner was a life-long scout and dedicated countless hours to the Boy Scouts of America. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, William H. Kantner, IV of Franklin Twp., Jo-Lyn Brace wife of Edward of Horsham, Daniel H. Kantner and Dianna of Springfield Twp., and Thomas A. Kantner and his wife Debbie of Hilltown Twp. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Ryan, Chris, Frank, Sara, Erin, Kylie, Emily, Tom, Cameron, Eddie, Julie, and Kaela. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11AM on Thursday, July 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5th & Chestnut Sts., Perkasie, where friends may call for the viewing 10-10:45AM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may also call for the viewing on Wednesday evening from 7-9PM at Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford (Franconia Twp.).
