Doris Alderfer

Doris (Long) Alderfer 74, of Souderton; formerly of Salford, PA died on Monday, November 25, 2013 at Souderton Mennonite Homes. She was the loving wife of Ralph C. Alderfer for 51 years. Doris was born in Sellersville, PA to the late Russell B. & Verna (Landis) Long. She attended Christopher Dock High School. During the 1990's, Doris was employed as a Nurses Aid for North Wales Podiatry, until retiring in 2000 due to failing health. She was an Acrylic Landscape Artist. Doris enjoyed cooking and baking. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Doris was a member of Ambler Mennonite Church where she served as an Elementary Sunday school teacher for many years. She is survived by her two sons, Daniel Alderfer & wife, Alicia of Schwenksville, PA, Mark Alderfer & wife, Denise of Souderton, PA; her three daughters, Cindy Derstine & husband, Ray of Harleysville, PA, Rhonda Alderfer & companion, Joseph Tedesco of Skippack, PA, Denise Koch & husband, Tom of Harleysville, PA; her 14 grandchildren - Jackie, Krissie, Sara, Bailey, Lindsey, Jesse, Hannah, Jordan, Cassie, Alexis, Corrine, Evan, Trent, Ella and her step-mother-in-law, Irene Alderfer of Souderton, PA. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her brother, Russell Long. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Souderton Mennonite Summit View Auditorium, 207 W. Summit St., Souderton, Pennsylvania 18964.
