John B. Atherholt Obituary
JOHN B. ATHERHOLT, age 94, a 10-year resident of Ann's Choice in Warminster, PA, and formerly of Glenside, PA, died on September 3, 2013. He was the devoted husband of the late Elizabeth Ferris Atherholt for 61 years until her death in 2005. Born in Philadelphia, John was the son of the late Thomas Brown Atherholt and the late Sarah Hewitt Atherholt. John graduated from Cheltenham High School in 1937 and then attended Lehigh University, where he was a member of Alpha Chi Rho Fraternity. John took an interest in flying in the years preceding World War II. During the war he served as a Second Lieutenant with the Army Air Corp (later the Air Force) where he worked on research and development of new aircraft at Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio. John began his working career in the aircraft industry both before (Pitcairn Aviation) and after the war (Glenn L. Martin). From 1948-1953 he worked for two manufacturing concerns before forming a sales company with two partners in 1954 (Atherholt Brinton & Glover, Inc.). The company represented manufacturers of water treatment equipment and processes. At age 62 he formed his own sales company, John B. Atherholt, Inc. He was a member of Water Pollution Control Association and of American Water Works Association. He was a former member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Jenkintown. He is survived by his sons and their spouses; J. Eric (Rick) and Christine Atherholt, Thomas B. and Deborah Atherholt, and Mark C. and Ellen Atherholt, and by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be private.
