Obituary Condolences

Carolyn M. Gormley 73, of Ambler, died on November 1, 2012 at Holy Redeemer Hospice. She was the beloved wife of over 49 years to Joseph W. Gormley. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 3, 1939 to the late William C. and Mary E. (Haskell) Smith. Carol was a graduate of St. Benedict Elementary School and Ancillae Academy High School class of 1958. She was a loving homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was formerly employed as a Secretary for Joe Huskey Insurance Co. in Ambler, and worked for Catholic Charities. She volunteered with the Firepolice of Wissahickon Fire Co. and was a CCD teacher at St. Joseph Church for handicap children. Carol was a track mom for Wissahickon High School track team, a member of the Whitpain Historical Society, was a volunteer dispatcher for Ambler Ambulance, and a devoted member of St. Joseph Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by 5 children Joseph W. Gormley, Jr. of Ambler, Robert G. Gormley of Ambler, Mary Therese Goodfriend and Neal of Sanger, TX, Kathleen G. Gormley of Wilmington, DE, Ann Marie Jacobson and Joe of Corinth, TX, 6 grandchildren Steven, Kristen, Erin Goodfriend, Emma, Caitlyn, Jonathan Jacobson, 2 brothers William C. Smith, Jr. and Robert J. Smith both of Philadelphia. She was pre-deceased by a son John C. Gormley. Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 16 S. Spring Garden St., Ambler. The Viewing will be Tuesday eve. from 6:30-9:00 PM at the Emil J. Ciavarelli Family Funeral Home, 951 E. Butler Pike, Ambler and Wednesday from 9-10 AM at Church.
