Cecil Pottieger Obituary
Cecil Paul Enders Pottieger, 94, died on July 5, 2018. He is survived by his wife of nearly 71 years, Doris, son Donald (Margaret) Pottieger, daughter Cheryl (Brian) Enders, four grandsons, Donald (Sharla), Brian (Ashley), Aaron (Candice) and Ben, two granddaughters, Laura, Katherine (Rob), and 11 great-grandchildren: Kendall, Trey, Jack, Hannah, Roan, Rylan, Samantha, Savannah, Jacob, Mallory and Liam. Cecil or “Deetz” as he was known by all, was born on April 24,1924 in Millersville, PA to William E. Pottieger and Ruth Eva Pottieger. He graduated from Albright College, Reading, PA in 1945, Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia in 1977 and earned the Doctor of Ministry in 1980 from United Theological Seminary, Dayton, OH. Deetz served local churches in the Eastern PA Conference of the United Methodist Church from 1944-1968 and 1978-1990. He was Director of the High Rise Apartment Ministries1965-1968 and served with the Board of Missions of the UMC from 1968-1978. He retired from the Eastern PA Conference in 1990. Deetz and Dolly lived in Frederick, MD for 14 years and moved to Mt. Pleasant, SC in 2004. The Pottiegers are members of Hibben United Methodist Church. Deetz was a life time member of Rotary International. A Celebration of Life was held in the Christian Life and Learning Center of Hibben UMC, 690 Coleman Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel. Memorials may be sent to Hibben UMC, Capital Campaign, 690 Coleman Blvd, Mt.
