Dorothy Kester Dorothy R. "Dotte" Kester, 94, of Lansdale and formerly of Souderton, died Friday, December 9, 2011 at Dock Terrace, where she lived since June. She previously lived at Dock Meadows for eleven years, where she taught a craft class for the residents for eight years. She was the wife of the late James M. Kester, her husband of 62 years, who died October 26, 2000. Dotte was born August 12, 1917 in Blackwood, PA, and was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mabel (Stuppy) Romberger. After graduating from East Stroudsburg, PA High School in 1936, she and her husband resided in East Stroudsburg until 1971 when they moved to Venice, FL. In 1998, the couple relocated to Souderton, PA, and lived in Lions Gate. Dotte owned and operated beauty shops in East Stroudsburg and Venice for 46 years. She was a member of the East Stoudsburg Presbyterian Church and then became a member and elder in the Venice Presbyterian Church where she also taught Sunday School for eight years. She was awarded an Honorary Life Membership in the Presbyterian Women's Association and was elected Woman of the Year. More recently, Dotte attended Grace Bible Church in Souderton. She is survived by her son, Gary T. Kester and wife Marilyn of Telford; two younger sisters, Rose Fehr of Nazareth, PA, and Miriam Meade of Elkins, WV; three grandchildren, Robb Kester and wife Dawn of Harleysville, Melinda Kester Kerry and husband Joseph of Aston, PA, and Michael Kellough and wife Nikki of Harleysville; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale, with visitation after 2 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Dotte Kester Memorial at Africa Inland Missions (AIM), P.O. Box 3611, Peachtree City, GA 30269.
