Edmund H. McLatchy Jr. Edmund H. McLatchy Jr., 80, of Wyncote, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at Phoebe Wyncote nursing home. Born Dec. 1, 1931, in Everett, Mass., he was the husband of Dorothy (Cherry) McLatchy, with whom he would have celebrated a 59th anniversary on April 16. He was the son of the late Edmund H. Sr. and Annie (Arthur) McLatchy. A Cheltenham area resident since 1940, Mr. McLatchy was a 1950 graduate of Abington High School. He attended Penn State Abington and served in the U.S. Navy overseas from 1950-1954. He was a construction engineer for Kuljian Corp., retiring in 1991 after 37 years. He was a member of Glenside UCC since 1966, serving as an usher, choir member, building committee member, custodian, and basketball and softball coach. He was a former member of Glenside Lions and Scoutmaster for Troop #740, which met at Glenside UCC, and loved sports. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Linda Kurowski (John) of Southampton, Barbara Sholders (Rich) of Pedricktown, N.J., and Nancy (Jim) Schaeffer of Penfield, N.Y.; a son, Richard McLatchy (Vickie) of Moyock, N.C.; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer, Kimberly, Pamela, John, Edmund, Christopher, Richard, Nicole, Danielle, Alexander and Nicholas; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John McLatchy (Mary) of Gettysburg, Pa., and Roy McLatchy of Hershey, Pa.; and a sister, Ann McLatchy of Chalfont. He was predeceased by a grandson, James; and a sister, Edythe Aungst. A funeral service will be held Friday, March 2, at noon, at Glenside UCC, Wharton Road and Abington Avenue, Glenside, PA 19038. Friends and relatives may call at the church from 11 a.m. to noon. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Edmund H. McLatchy Jr. Memorial Fund, c/o Glenside UCC at the above address. Arrangements were made by the John R. Freed Funeral Home, Glenside.
