Elizabeth (Betty) Miller Sadler a longtime resident of Flourtown, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2012 at Fort Washington Estates. Born June 3, 1922 in Erdenheim, she was the beloved wife of Daniel Sadler Jr., deceased. She will be greatly missed by her son Daniel Sadler III, daughters Ellen Sadler and Elisabeth Sadler Phipps, son-in-law Robert Phipps, step-daughter Shelly and husband Jerry Stehman, step-grandchildren Briar and Jacy, and many nieces and nephews. The daughter of Avis Buckman Miller and Daniel Yeakel Miller, Betty lived in Erdenheim until her marriage. She graduated from Springside School Chestnut Hill in 1940 and Pierce Business School in 1942. After graduation from Pierce she worked at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Wyndmoor until her marriage when she became a homemaker. She was a lifetime member of St. Thomas' Episcopal Church Whitemarsh where she was active on many church committees and recently contributed to a book on the history of the church. She participated in many local organizations including Whitemarsh Valley Fair Housing, Plymouth Meeting Questers, Ambler branch of the Needlework Guild of America, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. Betty volunteered as a docent at the Fort Washington Historical Society for several years and was also a lifetime member of the Descendants of the Schwenkfeldian Exiles. After her husband's retirement, they explored the United States, Canada and Mexico in their travel trailer renewing friendships along the way. She loved local history and researched the genealogy of the family. Services were held at St. Thomas Church Whitemarsh on September 7th where she was lovingly remembered by friends and family.
