Frederick N. Brauer Frederick Nelson Brauer of Folkeways, Gwynedd, died April 30, 2012, at his residence. He was 91. Born April 27, 1921, in Dorchester, Mass., he was the son of the late Frederick and Alma (Nelson) Brauer. He was the husband of Lydia (Shaw) Brauer. A graduate of The Hopkins School, New Haven, Conn., Mr. Brauer attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of New Hampshire in 1943. He worked for the Philco Corp. and its successor, Philco Ford, in Horsham, until retirement. He was an accomplished woodworker and photographer, an audiophile and a pianist with a passion for classical music. He enjoyed traveling to British Columbia to visit his family and many friends in the Kispiox Valley. A longtime member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Glenside, he resided in Meadowbrook for 47 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Deborah S. Brauer, son-in-law Dr. Charles T. Eckfeldt, and grandchildren Cathanne B. Eckfeldt and Matthew P. Eckfeldt. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, William and Jane Smoot, five nephews and three nieces. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 11, at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 654 N. Easton Road, Glenside, PA 19038. Interment will be in St. Peter's Courtyard immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter's Organ Fund at the above address. Arrangements by John R. Freed Funeral Home, Glenside.
