George Haring Obituary

GEORGE E HARING George E Haring died on Friday August 6, 2010 at his West Norriton Township residence, after a long illness. He was born in Norristown on May 10, 1922, a son of the late Roy S. and Ina Sylvania (Jarrett) Haring. He was the husband for 59 years of Claire (Buckmaster) Haring. He was a 1940 graduate of the former A.D. Eisenhower High School in Norristown and he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a member and Past Commander of the Frank C. Parker Post, American Legion. George retired in 1986 from C & D Batteries in Plymouth Twp. where he was the sales coordinator for the charger division. Following retirement he worked for Strawbridge and Clothier in King of Prussia and as a ranger at Center Square and Twin Lake golf courses. George was a life-long member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Norristown, where he served as Head Usher for 40 years. He was also a member of the Administrative Council, the Board of Trustees, and the Commission on Finance. He was also a teacher of the Post-High School Sunday School Class. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 4 children: Karen Gildea and her husband William, Lisa Davner and her husband William, Edwina Haring and Edward Haring. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren: Joshua, David, Amber, Jeremy, Aliza, Rebecca and Simon. He was also great grandfather to Stephen and Cora. He is also survived by his sister Mildred H. Marx of Ocean Pines, MD. He was predeceased by his brothers Walter J Haring, James J. Haring, Roy S. Haring, Jr. and Howard S. Haring. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service on Saturday August 14th, 2010 at 10am in the Asbury United Methodist Church, Pine and Freedley Streets in Norristown, PA. There will not be a viewing. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10 am untill service time. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in West Norriton Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to the Norristown High School Class of 1940, Scholarship Fund C/O Norristown Area School District, 1900 Eagle Drive, Norristown, PA 19403. Furneral arrangements are by the Bailey Funeral Chapel, Ltd. Norristown, PA 610272 -0414

Aunt Claire and Family, Jim and I send our love and prayers to all of you. Uncle George was very special to all of us and he will be missed. He was blessed to have such a beautiful family and you were all blessed to have a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and lots of great memories. Love you all. Debbie & Jim
