Dr. James Brown Dr. James Leland Brown passed away peacefully on June 18, a few weeks shy of his 79th birthday. Jim was a retired elementary school principal and a Captain in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserves. Jim graduated from West Chester University, earned a masters degree in Education from Temple University and a doctorate in Education from Lehigh University. He began his career as an instructor at the Naval Officer Training Command in Newport, R.I., and served as an Information Officer for the U.S. Naval Academy during his Naval Reserve years. Jim served almost 30 years as principal of Titus, Buckingham and Barclay Elementary Schools in Central Bucks School District. He retired to sailing and golf in the Poconos and Hilton Head, S.C. Jim is survived by his sister, Ida, and wife Carole; three children, Pam (Chelsea), Scott and Craig, their spouses and eight grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held for Jim on Sunday, July 8, at 1 p.m. at Abington Presbyterian Church, 1082 Old York Rd, Abington, Pa.
