Obituary Condolences

Jane R. Gerhard Jane Ruth (Dewar) Gerhard of Glenside, Cheltenham Township, died Nov. 5, 2011, at her home. She was 84. Born June 24, 1927, in Philadelphia, she was the wife for 65 years of Robert C. Gerhard. She was the daughter of the late John and Ruth (Voegtel) Dewar. A homemaker and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, she was an avid boater and loved to cruise the Chesapeake, which she did for the last 50 years. She also collected seashells for 20 years from all over the United States and British Virgin Islands. Mrs. Gerhard was a member of Carmel Presbyterian Church in Glenside. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Robert C. Gerhard Jr. (Cynthia) of Glenside and John H. Gerhard (Karen) of Ambler; a daughter, Susan Jend of Colorado; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at Carmel Presbyterian Church, 100 Edgehill Road, Glenside, PA 19038. Friends and relatives may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Interment will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Carmel Presbyterian Church at the above address. Arrangements were made by the John R. Freed Funeral Home, Glenside.
