Jean Shaw Obituary
SHAW, JEAN, of Ocean City, New Jersey, entered the Kingdom of Heaven of Heaven on April 14, 2014 after a sudden but brief illness. Jean was born Jean Beatrice Hall, in Philadelphia, PA., February 19. 1928. She lived in West Philadelphia and attended Philadelphia Girls High and Drexel University. Jean then lived and raised her family in Glenside, PA. until 1995 when she moved to her beloved Ocean City, where she happily resided by the ocean. Jean's love of books and reading was contagious. She worked and volunteered in a number of public and schools libraries for years and loved to introduce people to books that broadened their exposure to literature. In Ocean City she worked in Sun Rose Books for many years and, while she enjoyed sharing her knowledge of all books, it was children's books that she loved most. She was incredibly kind, cheerful, and supportive of others. Everyone who knew her experienced her accepting unconditional love, and was uplifted. She enthusiastically encouraged us to reach for the stars and follow our dreams. She was the wind beneath our wings. Jean is survived by her four children and their spouses; Harold and Barbara Shaw of Bethesda, MD; Tom and Jackie Shaw of Hickory Creek, TX; Dan Shaw and Cathy Bailey of Albuquerque, NM; and Beth and Dan Klein of Ocean City, NJ. Jean had nine grandchildren (Carin, Christopher, Jennifer Jean, Katie, Laura, Philip, Rachel, Robert, and Roland) and one great-grandchild, Silas, son of Christopher and Sami Transue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ocean City Free Public Library 1735 Simpson Avenue, Ocean City, NJ 08226, in Memory of Jean.
