Obituary Condolences

June Rose Peterson 89, of Oreland, died Saturday, December 1, 2012. She was the wife of the late Eugene F. Peterson, her beloved husband of 60 years, who died September 11, 2012. Born June 3, 1923 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late William Frederick and Florence (Shackleton) Rose. Mrs. Peterson wrote a column called The Village Commuter for the Springfield Sun for over 40 years. She worked as a secretary for Faith Theological Seminary, Focus Magazine, New York Life Insurance, and Harry Lenz Real Estate. She was a dedicated member of St. Philip-In-The-Fields Episcopal Church in Oreland where she was active with the Church Women's Guild Group, taught Sunday school, and led a Girl Scout troop. She is survived by her children, Mark F. Peterson and his wife, Susan of Boca Raton, FL, and Deborah J. Peterson of North Wales; two grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Rose of Lancaster, PA. She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Rose. Relatives and friends may call after 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at St. Philip-In-The-Fields Episcopal Church, 317 Oreland Mill Road, Oreland, followed by the Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Thomas' Cemetery, Whitemarsh.
