Obituary Condolences

Raymond Edward Althouse, of Bedminster Twp., PA, died Sunday, November 6, 2011. He was 82. He was the husband of Catherine S. (Shoemaker) Althouse. The couple had celebrated their 58th Wedding Anniversary on June 6, 2011. Born in Quakertown, PA, he was the son of the late Raymond R. and Anna (Weisel) Althouse. A 1946 Graduate of Sell-Perk High School, Perkasie, PA, he graduated from the Pennsylvania Military College in 1953. He was a U. S. Army 1st Lieutenant, serving from 1953 to 1955. Mr. Althouse was employed as a mechanical engineer for General Electric from 1955 to 1968. Following his tenure at G.E., he worked as a real estate broker owning and operating Althouse Realty, Quakertown, from 1976 to 1979. Then, he worked for EMICO, Dublin, PA, until retiring there in 1993. Mr. Althouse attended St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kellers Church, PA. He was a former member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Dublin, where he was Past President of the Church Council. An avid hunter, he enjoyed bike riding, going to the beach and traveling around the world. Surviving with his wife are two sons, E. Blair Althouse and his wife Cindy, of Avondale, PA, and R. Brad Althouse and his wife Denise, of Logan, UT; a daughter, Sharon L. Schneider and her husband Paul, of Colmar, PA; nine grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Jean Althouse, of Richmond, VA, and Beatrice Althouse, of Perkasie. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kermit W. and J. Stanton Althouse, and a sister, Phyllis Althouse. Services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3668 Ridge Road, Perkasie, PA 18944.
