Obituary Condolences

Virginia Kaler Virginia "Ginny" (Schaffer) Kaler, 91 of Hatfield, died Monday October 10, 2011. She was the wife of the late Robert L. Kaler, Jr. Born March 3, 1920 in Lansdale, she was one of fourteen children to the late Thomas S. Schaffer, Sr. and Jennie (Gilmer) Schaffer. She worked for the former Kaler Towels in Hatfield where she met the love of her life and husband Robert. She retired from the former Hanson's Textile Company where she had worked as a seamstress. Ginny enjoyed watching and playing all sports and was an avid Phillies fan. She enjoyed spending summers at her home on Lake Wallenpaupack. She served as one of the first Den Mothers for the Cub Scout Pack 510, Hatfield, and was a Girl Scout Leader with Troop 6, Hatfield. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Reliance Chapter for over 50 years and was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, Hatfield where she taught Sunday school, helped with the Jr. Choir and served on the Altar Guild and flower committee for many years with her dear friend Marianne Grubb. Most of all the greatest joy for Ginny was her grandchildren, great grandchildren, her church and God. She is survived by her son, Robert L. Kaler, III and his wife Linda and daughter, Joanne Moyer and her husband Barry. Eight grandchildren, Jenny, Amy (Dean), Chrissy (George), Bobby (Donna), Paul, Bradley (Nichole), Bryan (Molly) and BJ (Todd), 21 great-grandchildren, a sister Vera Becker (Paul), two brothers, Bruce and Robert Schaffer (Bonnie) and sister in laws, Ruth McArthur (Charles), Doris Schaffer and Bonnie Schaffer. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by six sisters, Margaret, Ella, Doris, Arlene, Betty, Gertrude, four brothers, twins; James and Walter, Charles and Thomas, Jr. and a daughter in law, Barbara Kaler. A viewing will be held on Friday, Oct. 14, from 6-8 pm at the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford, (Franconia Twp.) and on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 10-11 am at Grace Lutheran Church, 25 W. Broad St., Hatfield, 19440, a funeral service will follow at 11 am. Interment will be in Hatfield Cemetery.
