Elizabeth Westpfahl Obituary
Elizabeth "Betty" Westpfahl, 82, of Moscow, Pa, entered into eternal rest after a long, courageous battle with bone marrow cancer, on Saturday, July 26th, 2014, at Hospice of Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre. Born in Souderton, Pa, she was a daughter of the late Jonas and Lizzie (Smith) Shoemaker. Betty was an avid baseball fan and rooted for the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies. She was very active in the Moscow Senior Center and especially enjoyed helping organize and joyfully participating in many trips to numerous casinos. Betty was preceded in death in addition to her parents, by her husband Fred Westpfahl, her brothers Curtis and Harry Shoemaker, and her companion of many years George Ohler. She is survived by her son John Westpfahl and his wife Sherri, Mountain Top, her siblings Abram Shoemaker, Gertrude Cordero, Linford Shoemaker, Ella May Shoemaker, and Harvey Shoemaker, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to offer a special and heart-felt thank you to Marian Fisher for her friendship and care for Betty. A Memorial Service and luncheon will be held on Wednesday, July 30th, at 11 am at Olde Brook Inn, Rt. 307, Moscow, Pa. McCune Funeral Home, Mountain Top, is assisting the family with the arrangements. The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the .
