Lillian C. Gatter Obituary
Lillian C. Gatter (nee Purcell) on February 3, 2013. Wife of the late Carl W. Gatter. Survived by her children Mary L. Greenberg (Irvin), Jack A. Klemas, James R. Klemas and the late Robert F. Purcell and Betty Ann Miller. Survived by her foster children Charles Leary, Robert Leary, William Leary. Three grandchildren Paula Duffield, Mary Elizabeth Kelley (Frank) and Mary Ann Spotts (Les). Eight great grand children Frank Anthony Kelley, Shannon Kelley, Harrison Kelley, Ryan Stewart, Rachel Spotts, Sarah Spotts, Angela Spotts and Emily Spotts. Born in Warren County, VA. Longtime resident of Wyncote PA. Lifelong love of children, probably fostered by the fact that she was the eldest of 18 children and helped raise most of her 17 brothers and sisters. She was the last to survive. Babysitter for scores of children, many of whom still revisited her as adults. Took disadvantaged children to Sunday school and Church activities. Active in PA Historical societies. Portrayed Hannah Penn, wife of William Penn in 1980's and early '90's throughout the Phila area. Funeral Service Thursday 11:00 AM at William R. May Funeral Home 354 N. Easton Rd. (at Keswick Ave.) Glenside, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing at the Funeral Home Thursday after 10:00 AM. Interment Hillside Cemetery.
