Margaret Elizabeth (Brazier) Ely, born September 15, 1929, passed away peacefully at her home in Abington, PA on May 17, 2013. Margo grew up in Johnson Co., Kansas, graduating from Shawnee Mission High School and Cottey College before obtaining her nursing degree from Washington University in Saint Louis, MO. Margo had a lifelong love of music, which led her to the love of her life, H. Jay Ely who she met on the stage at the Kansas City Light Opera Co. After their courtship and marriage they lived in Kansas City and Pittsburgh, PA before settling in Abington, PA, where they have resided for the last 46 years. Margo worked as a nurse at Abington Memorial Hospital and for the Abington School District. She continued her music avocation with the Abington Choral Club, singing in the soprano section for 50 years, and was an active, longtime member of Abington Friends Meeting in Jenkintown. She is survived by her husband, Jay, sons, Timothy (Deborah) and Daniel (Tracey), daughter, Brynn Ladd (Robert), eight grandchildren, a sister and two brothers. A memorial service has been planned for 11 AM, June 22, 2013 at Abington Friends Meeting. Interment will be private.
