Obituary Condolences

Edward F. Siegfried, of Hilltown, PA, died Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at his son's residence in Hilltown. He was 81. He was the husband of Violet H. (Horoschak) Siegfried. The couple had celebrated their 51st Wedding Anniversary on May 26, 2013. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the youngest of eight children of the late Harry D. and Mary M. (Totten) Siegfried. He was a member of the U. S. Army Reserves, serving from 1950 to 1952. In March of 1953, he transferred to the U. S. Navy and served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to Jan. 1956 active duty. He then served in the Naval Reserves inactive until 1958. An HVAC salesman, Mr. Siegfried began his career in 1957 with the George F. Bartram Co. before working for Tuttle & Bailey, Inc. from 1959-1974. In 1975, he started his own business, the E. F. Siegfried Co., Oreland, PA, which he operated until retiring in 2011. He was a member and active parishioner of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hilltown. Mr. Siegfried volunteered for many years as an Assistant Scoutmaster and Merit Badge Counselor for the Boy Scouts of America. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Boyertown Rod & Gun Club and Life Member of the North American Hunting Club. He was an Endowment Member of the NRA, and a member of the Pennsylvania Rifle and Pistol Association and the American Legion Post No. 0945. A member of the Indian Valley Country Club, Telford, PA, he enjoyed golfing as well as vegetable gardening. He loved people and was always up for a party, but was happiest at home with his wife and children and dogs. Surviving with his wife are four sons, Edward F. Siegfried, Jr., and his wife Eleanora R., of Pennsburg, PA, Dr. Martin R. Siegfried and his wife Tina R., of Gainesville, GA, James H. Siegfried and his wife Jeannette, of Hilltown, and John H. Siegfried and his wife Tina, of Hilltown; a daughter, Dr. Marion E. Mass and her husband Dr. Stephen, of Hilltown; 13 grandchildren; and three sisters, Helen Bolger, of Alexandria, VA, Catherine Cowardin and her husband William, of Sunnybank, VA, and Margaret M. Gotwols and her husband Lawson H., of Philadelphia, PA. He was preceded in death by three brothers, H. David, Paul J. and Richard H. Siegfried, and a sister, Marion (Siegfried) Boyle. Family and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial to be held Saturday, October 5, 2013, at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Route 152 & Broad Street, Hilltown. Interment will be in Our Lady of Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA, or Saturday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass at the Church.
