Frank a week has already passed and still it is so hard to believe that you are no longer with us. We rang in the New Year with our "Frank" ties and running shoes but sadly missed your dance moves and energy. We tried to enjoy ourselves like we know you would have wanted but it wasn't easy and tissues were needed by all.

It is so difficult to grasp that someone who I have known for over 25 years, and was always so full of life, energy, and warmth left so untimely.
However, your enthusiasm, generosity, and humor will always be alive in the heart and memories of those who worked with you. It was great to see how your positive approach and kindness always got students to give their best.

Mr. Frank,

From Kindergarten to Grade 6 at Dante I always looked forward to your gym class. I remember stealing you away from the other kids so we could play basketball together and I could work on that jumpshot of mine. It only took three years but it got way better! We unfortunately hadn't seen each other at all since I left Dante in 2005 but I'm positive you never changed your fun-loving and open-minded personality. Seriously, you were like a rockstar to all the kids I remember talking to about you, even to this day. You are a legendary figure and as I lament on all those great times spent in your class during those crucial years of childhood, it still saddens me greatly to hear about your passing. The Tartamella Family misses you and will not forget.

Yesterday was a wonderful celebration of your life and a beautiful way to say goodbye. You've given many people a lot to remember you by. You've taken good care of myself and many more. I've known you since the first day I stepped foot into Dante Elementary School. You are an incredible man and you've raised your voice to so many of your students and I'm sure your family as well. With your inspirational words, you've changed us all to be better people! Thank you for being the funniest/silliest physical education teacher at Dante and the greatest VP at LMAC High School. Tripping over basketballs and smashing into walls to make us little children die of laughter. Thank you for creating Frank Evangelista Playground for students at Dante. Your silly ties made every Laurier student tell you how great you look with your awesome 'cravattes'. You're a very unique man and you make so many smile after a bad day either at school or at home. Everyday I'd see you, I would say, "Sir, you graduated me in elementary and now in high school." I guess you'll have to watch your students graduate from above. I hope you can come visit us students one last time! As one of your daughters quoted during her beautiful speach, "We'd like to think that he passed because his heart just grew too big. He lived his 100 years in just 59 years." I miss you soo much and will never forget how much of a wonderful man you are,"Mr. Frank Evangelista, you're sick!"
My condolences to your beautiful family and may the wonderful memories you've left them, give them strength. <3

;) xox

Dear Mr. Evangelista,

I feel so blessed to have known you : I will forever cherish your words of wisdom on teaching and on parenthood. Your eyes would light up whenever you spoke of your daughters and wife. Even more so, when you spoke of your grandson! I will always remember your last words to me : ‘'Enjoy your children and husband during the Christmas Holidays ‘cause I know I will''.

Your smile, your laughter, your energetic being will always be remembered : ‘'When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousands reasons to smile.'' (unknown author)

Miss Roma

Dear Dante Family,
Our family has lost one of its treasured alumni, Mr. Frank.
He loved his students and believed that everyone of them could achieve whatever they set their minds to. When one didn't believe enough in himself, he would believe enough for both of them.
He wanted them to be the best they could be. He felt every child should be nurtured and celebrated.

He was a cherished teacher who made the Evangelista playground a reality. It was one of the few times that we took credit for something. He preferred to work in a supporting role always helping out and ready to do whatever was needed to make the Christmas pageant, Olympic Day, gymnastic expositions, basketball and volleyball tournaments become a success. Success was measured in the number of students who participated (all of them) and had fun!

He was an exceptional teacher and colleague. He developed close friendships with the staff that endured over the years. He acknowledged the successes of others by saying "You're the best!".

Today was a celebration of his life. He probably never knew how much he had touched each and everyone of us while he walked the earth with us. I am sure that he was touched by the outpouring of love and admiration for him in these last few days.

Today, it was our turn to say Mr. Frank, you were the best and we will never forget you!

Miss Roma, former principal of Dante

A life lesson we can lean from Frank is to complain less and laugh more. Live each day to the fullest and be kind to one another. It was impossible to have a conversation with Frank without having a laugh or at least a smile. To a unique, gentile and kind heart….may you RIP Mr. Evangelista. We have all gained an angel looking over us.

This picture was taken during Frank's first trip to NYC with LMAC. He loved the ties the staff at Planet Hollywood wore that he just had to have one. It is our little secret how that tie made it in his collection…he proudly wore it to work the following Monday.

I got to know him because both my sons (andy and vito) had him as a gym teacher and now vito also had him as a Vice Principal at Laurier. He was always there to help the student and to encourage them till the end. He was always with that big smile no matter what and with those cute funky ties.. I am so saddened by the passing of such an amazing, loyal, adventurous and motivating man. I had the privilege to have him as my PhysEd teacher throughout my years at Dante school as well as grow up close to his daughters and family. He was a joyful, humorous, encouraging and amazing teacher, father and husband. May he watch upon his daughters, wife, grandchildren, and family as he dances with the angels above.

My deepest condolences the Evangelista family. Such a great man taken so early. Mr. Frank was my gym teacher from kindergarten to grade 6 and I cannot possibly imagine a better phys. ed teacher. Mr. Frank, I will forever cherish those few hours I had with you every week. Rest in peace, Mr. Frank, from one of the many students whose lives you have touched.

My Deepest sympathies to the family. Frank was my children's Gym teacher at Dante, and a teammate in summer hockey. During the school year, we would take the students to Hebert Arena to play hockey during lunch hour. He was a great teacher and a great person. May the light shine on you. You will be missed

I was deeply saddened to hear the news about Mr. Evangelista. As a new teacher at Laurier Mac, Frank went out of his way to help me feel comfortable in my new surroundings. He was always encouraging me to stay positive and keep an open mind, even calling me into his office for an informal chat.

To the family, I offer my deepest condolences for the loss of a husband, father, uncle, and grandfather. We at Laurier Mac share your loss

Rest in peace Mr. Frank.

Mr.Frank, I don't even know where to begin. You were one of my favorite teachers all through elementary school at Dante. You would always help me with my problems and would never let me go home without a smile on my face. Smelling your shoes, tripping on purpose, these were some of the many things you would do just to make your students laugh, and it always worked. My deepest condolences go out to the Evangelista family. You will be deeply missed and will always be in our heats. Love you Mr.Frank!
