Arthur Stanway

Nov. 9, 1924 - Nov 3, 2012 With sadness we announce the death of Arthur on Nov. 3, 2012 in his 88th year. Predeceased by his sisters Beverley MacKay and Norma Seed.

Left behind is his loving wife of 23 years, Greta (Beacom) and her children Louise (Tom MacKenzie) & Daniel Coutu. Survived by his first wife, Lynne, their 3 sons; Peter, David (Lucy Cochrane), Herb and six grandchildren; Tara, Gregory, Elizabeth, Carly, Gordon and Kurtis. Also survived by his brother Frank (Peggy) and sister Dorothy Hills. Art served in WW2 as a fighter pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force, and was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, both in Morin Heights and NDG. Art loved the outdoors and was an avid skier, taking the Petit train du nord to his favourite Hill 70 in his youth. With the help of many, he built a chalet which later became his home in Christieville, along the Simon River. Some refer to him as Iron man, but to all, he was a great friend, husband, father and grandfather. As per Art's wishes, his body has been donated to science. At a later date his ashes will be interred at the Field of Honour Cemetary, Pte. Claire, Qc.

A reception to celebrate his life will take place on Sat. Nov.24th at the Royal Canadian Legion, 5455 de Maisonneuve W. (corner Addington) in NDG, from 2pm to 4pm. Many thanks to the caring staff on the 10th floor at Ste. Anne's Hospital for Veterans.

In lieu of flowers, please sign your organ donor card.
