YURTCU, Aydin Dr., M.D.
May 28, 1929 - December 20, 2012
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Aydin Yurtcu on December 20, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. He will be fondly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Tulin Yurtcu, daughter Hulya (Giuseppe Petrillo), son Metin (Sharon), and his beloved granddaughters, Talya, Sera, and Melodi. He was a doctor of psychiatry, a family man, but foremost, a dedicated friend to many. He touched the lives of everyone he met; from those in his cherished hometown of Adana (Turkey), during his university life in Ankara, his residency in the United States, and of course Montreal - his home for the past 50 years. He was an outstanding figure in the Turkish community -always lending a helping hand or advice. Always proud of his Turkish heritage, but equally proud to be a Canadian, Dr. Yurtcu was a true example to new and old community members alike. For those he leaves behind, we will truly miss his reflective "life stories" – or as he would modestly start off in Turkish, "Gel hayat?m? anlatay?m". Funeral service will be: Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 8:30 a.m., Rideau Memorial Gardens 4239, boulevard des Sources Dollard-des-Ormeaux. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made online www.jgh.ca
in memory of Dr. Aydin Yurtcu, Jewish General Hospital Oncology Department.
