CORBETT, Eileen Ann (nee Dunphy)
Born July 10th, 1916 in Montreal, first born to Mary-Ellen Sullivan and Bernard Francis Dunphy.
Passed away peacefully at L'Institut Universitaire de geriatrie de Montreal on Monday, December 3rd, 2012 in her 97th year.
Beloved wife of the late Clarence (Clary) Corbett. Loving mother of the late Robert, Kevin (Dr. Michèle Moreau), Michael (Heather Pond), Colleen (late Keith Hinton). Cherished grandmother of Jean – François (Liv), Darren (Cari), Isabelle (Frederic), Alison, Sean Batty (Krystyn) and Cameron Hinton. Great-grandmother of Levi, Ludovic, Sydney, Odil and Marie-Lou. Dearest sister of Bernadette Wright and the late Agnes (Pope), Rita (MacNab) and Thomas (Alice Gallagher- recently deceased). Also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Eileen loved the city of Montreal, living in the neighborhoods of Hutchison street and St-Gabriel's Church, Pointe St-Charles, as a youth, where lifetime friendships with Patricia (Willan) Braham and Joyce (Fairhurst) Shannon were formed. Rosemont and her beloved Beaubien street neighborhood were her home for most of her life, living also briefly in Lasalle and at St-Patrick's Square, where she was a neighbour to her dear cousin Rita (Dunphy McInerney). She suffered extreme loss throughout her long life, that of her father, a son, her mother, her brother, sisters, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law and friends whom we are sure she never forgot. In losing her autonomy throughout her last 8 years, she received angelic care from the staff at the IUGM. However she bravely gathered and maintained her natural humorous expressiveness and dry wit when needed until the end. She loved children and the elderly (working 15 years as weekend receptionist at the Griffith - McConnell residence), and would encourage everyone to support their cause throughout. She is now happy to be united especially with her dear son, Robert, and dear husband Clary (53 years and 25 years departed respectively).
Visitation at Feron's Funeral Home (1010 Shevchenko - Lasalle) on Saturday, December 8th, 2012 from 10 am - 12 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at 12 pm, presided by fr. Jospeh Sullivan, in the chapel of the Funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the La Fondation Institut de geriatrie de Montreal 4565 chemin Queen-Mary MTL., QC H3W 1W5 and / or The Sainte-Justine Hospital / Montreal Children's Hospital would be appreciated.
