Ivan Albert Vlasic

OBITUARY IVAN ALBERT VLASIC 1926 - 2011 Died peacefully at the Lakeshore General Hospital on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the age of eighty-four. Born in the Province of Gorizia, Italy, July 29, 1926, Ivan Vlasic became a decorated World War II veteran of the Yugoslav partisan army. After an undergraduate degree in his native Yugoslavia he came to Canada to study law at McGill University. He then earned a PhD from Yale Law School and taught in Florida and Ottawa before becoming a professor at McGill University in the Faculty of Air and Space Law in 1963. At the time of his death he was a Professor Emeritus in the Institute of Air and Space Law. He was predeceased by his wife of thirty years, Katherine Christine Vlasic (nee Parker) in 1986. He leaves behind sons Edward (Marie-Josee Lord) and John (Tara Askew), and seven grandchildren, Marc-Edouard, Thomas, Charles, James, Eric, Emma and Alex.
