Liesl Lisbeth BRAININ

BRAININ, Liesl (Lisbeth), née Kelsen
September 6,1919 - December 7, 2012
Passed away in Chipping Norton, England. Beloved wife of the late Jussi for 68 years. Cherished mother of Carole, Kay (Jack) and Danny (Dany). Much loved Oma of Tom, Ben, Joe, Hannah, Jesse, Kira (Iain), Kathryn (fiancé Theo), and Julia. Loving Great-Oma of Liliana and Imogen. Devoted daughter of the late Ernst Kelsen and the late Lili Kann, much loved and loving cousin of the late Karin Gretton. Liesl had a happy childhood in her beloved Vienna until she was forced to flee the Nazis in 1938. She met Jussi in London on September 3, 1939, the day that Britain declared war on Germany. She spent the war years in England with her mother and young daughter, living through the London Blitz while Jussi served in the British Army. After the war, they emigrated to Canada to begin a new life with a growing family. In 1978, she and Jussi returned to England where they enjoyed another 30 years together in the beautiful countryside they loved so much, spending wonderful summers in their native Austria. She enjoyed in equal measure classical music and theatre, tennis and hockey. She created lovely knitted sweaters and afghans for friends and family. Liesl was a beautiful, loyal and lively woman who always put her family first. She will be terribly missed, cherished always.
