Omer Girard, 92, of Magog, passed peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Olive Griffiths, he is survived by his five children, Robert (Eleanor Beaudoin), Suzanne (Claude Pelletier), Paul, Marc, Jocelyne (Anselme Lambert), nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and many friends and colleagues. Omer was founder and president of Transvision Magog and the Magog-Orford Chamber of Commerce. Pioneer of the Canadian cable industry, he received the prestigious Prix des Communications in 1984. He was inducted in the Canadian Telecommunications Hall of Fame in December 2012. The family will receive condolences at Saint-Patrice Church, 115, Merry St. North, in Magog, on Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m., and from 7 to 10 p.m., and Friday, March 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Saint- Patrice Church at 4 p.m.
