GAUTHIER, Roland
Peacefully on March 14 in Trois-Rivières, at the age of 94, Roland Gauthier, eldest son of the late Henri and Fabiola Gauthier, passed away. Beloved husband of the late Carmelita McCormick, he will be missed by his daughters Linda and Nancy (Mark Robinson) and son Paul (Jo-Ann Veillette) and his grandchildren: Colleen, Jean, Marilyn, Stan and Emma; his brothers: Gilles (Jacqueline Lemay), Bob, Frank (Lucette Gariépy) and his sister Suzanne (late Paul O'Sullivan), as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces and friends. He is predeceased by his son Johnny, his brothers Fritz, Johnny (Mariette Bouchard), Pete, and his sister Mariette. When he retired in 1985, Roland was the manager of the CIP mill in Trois-Rivières. He was an army veteran of the Second World War and served in the militia from 1946 to 1964. He was the 26th Commander of the Trois-Rivières Regiment, Honorary Lieutenant Colonel of the 12th Canadian Armoured Regiment from 1987-1990, and since 1945, was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 35 where he also served as President. He also founded the Regiment's cadet corps. The family wishes to acknowledge the care given to him by the staff of the Louis-Denoncourt Residence in Trois-Rivières and by Jeanne Gauthier. Family and friends may pay their respects at Centre Funéraire Rousseau, 3300 boul. des Forges, Trois-Rivières, from 11 am on Saturday, March 23 prior to the ceremony at the Memorial of the funeral home at 1:30 pm. Interment will follow at the Saint-Michel cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made through a donation to the Musée militaire du 12e Régiment blindé du Canada (574 St-François-Xavier, Trois-Rivières Qc G9A 1R6).
