World War II Veteran
Peacefully on 31 December, 2012 at the Perley and Rideau Veteran's Health Centre, in Ottawa at the age of 93. Cherished husband of Katherine Kelleher for 70 years. Loving father of Dr. Christine (Ottawa) and Shane (Winnipeg). Beloved Gramps of Stacey (Calgary), J. Kelly (Toronto) and Samantha (Victoria) and great-grandfather of Lara and Daly. The eldest son of John Nestruck and Anna Kizlinsky, he was born and lived most of his life in Montreal. Survived by his brother Stanley. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters and infant daughter Sarah. Served during WWII with the Royal Montreal and Royal Canadian Hussars RECCE Regiments. He worked as a remedial physiotherapist at Ste. Anne's Hospital, QC for 35 years. The family offers special thanks to Gazeta and Elizabeth, all the caring staff of G1N at the Perley-Rideau. He will be remembered as a golfer, curler, active member of the War Amps and as Gramps who fed the birds in winter, rafted at the cottage, gardened and walked them to school. Friends may pay their respects at noon on Saturday, January 5 at St. Thomas the Apostle Anglican Church, 2345 Alta Vista Drive, Ottawa followed by a Funeral Service at 1 p.m. Interment in the Field of Honour, Pointe-Claire, QC at a later date. In memoriam donations to The War Amputations of Canada-Champs Program (2827 Riverside Dr, Ottawa ON, K1V 8N4) would be appreciated.
