Pierre LALONDE Obituary
January 20, 1941- June 21, 2016
Pierre peacefully passed away surrounded by family after a long illness, bravely borne. He is survived by his wife, Clare (née Lewis), and children, Alexandra (Zoie Palmer), Andréa, Marie-Clare (Ian Daley), Jean-Pierre, his sister Andrée, and grandchildren Luca and Neko. Pierre was a beloved artist and entertainer, who had a long and prolific career in music and television which transcended generations. He was a rare artist who touched people with his undeniable charm, charisma and palpable energy. His career began at the age of 4, and saw him working in many media in both French and English, in Canada and the United States. He was defined by his work ethic, uncompromised integrity and strong values. Pierre was loved by many as a cultural icon and adored as father and husband, described as a true gentleman, he is remembered for his joy for life, infectious laugh and sense of humour. Pierre valued his family first and foremost, adored his golden retrievers and his time on the golf course. He dedicated a great deal of time and energy to raising money for many charitable causes. In 2011, the National Assembly awarded Pierre its medal of honour for his artistic, cultural and philanthropic contributions. Pierre will be greatly missed by his family, friends and fans. The family will receive condolences on Monday, June 27, 2016 from 1-2 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. for family and friends at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Hudson. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkinson Quebec (parkinsonquebec.ca).

I'm an American. In the 70's I spent my childhood in Montreal. Every saturday evening I would watch Jeunesse! It was my favorite show on television! Pierre Lalonde was a talented and gorgeous man inside and out. I send my deepest condolences to Pierre's family, friends, and fans. God bless Pierre.

Sincere sympathy to Pierre's family. Our fathers were both singers and were social friends (Jean Lalonde and Ludovic Huot). Pierre was a very classy and companionate man. Our paths crossed from time to time. I contacted him while volunteering for starlight and he was very receptive to help out. He has left a wonderful legacy.
